Abstract

An intensive archaeological survey of a portion of Site 9Du150 in Dougherty County, Georgia was conducted on July 14 and 15, 2006 by the LAMAR Institute. Portions of this site are contained within a 20 acre tract of a proposed development project. The author was contacted by the engineering firm of TTL, Inc., Albany, Georgia to delineate this archaeological site. The site was delineated by systematic shovel tests, surface examination, and metal detector survey. Based on these findings, an assessment of its research potential was prepared. The site, which is located on a relict sand dune east of the Flint River, contains historic 19th century and unidentified prehistoric lithic components. The archaeological deposits were found to be severely disturbed with no integrity or any potential for substantive research. Consequently, Site 9Du150 is deemed ineligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. No further research or management at Site 9Du150 is required under federal or state law.
