Abstract

Under Executive Order 12348, Savannah District, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, is in the process of excessing selected Federal properties, including the Indian Cove property, to the General Services Administration. Based on the results o f an intensive archaeological survey and testing program, a determination has been made that Site FSLN l, located in Indian Cove Properties, Lincoln County, Georgia, meets the eligibility criteria for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. In accordance with the Advisory Counsel on Historic Preservation procedures, 36 CFR Part 800.4 ( c ) , Determination of No Adverse Effect, a data recovery program for Site FSLN l was required. Southeastern Archaeological Services, Inc., Athens, Georgia, submits this document as a proposed research design for conducting the data recovery project. Except for an initial phase of research into the possibility of an historic origin of some of the rock cairns, our proposed research design will closely follow that outlined in the Request for Quotation for the Data Recovery Program.
