During the period of September 12 through October 10, 2003, R.S. Webb & Associates (RSWA) conducted a literature review and Phase I cultural resources survey for the proposed Expansion Area of the C & D Landfill in Cherokee County, Georgia. The cultural resources survey was conducted to locate and identify cultural resources within the project area and assess resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places criteria (36 CFR Part 60.4). The project area is approximately 32.11 acres (13 hectares) located within an existing landfill near the town of Gober. One prehistoric site (9CK1176) and one isolated find were identified. No diagnostics were found to indicate period of use. The site and isolated find are recommended ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places. No further cultural resources work is warranted.
