Abstract

The proposed project would construct a raised median along SR 120/Abbotts Bridge Road. The project would also include left turn lanes, curb and gutter, pedestrian crossings, and bike lanes. Designated left turn lanes currently exist along SR 120/Abbotts Bridge Road at the following intersections: Jones Bridge Road, East Fox Court, Addison Lane, Byers Road, Westbury Lane, and Parsons Road/Laurel Ridge Drive. These existing left turn lanes would remain and additional left turn lanes would be provided at the SR 120/Abbotts Bridge Road intersections with Dunhill Place Drive, North Hillbrook Trace/Abbotts Way, and Murets Road. The existing typical section consists of two 12-foot travel lanes with grassed shoulders and intermittent sidewalks. The proposed typical section would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, a variable width raised, landscaped median, and a 7-foot bike lane on both sides of the roadway (includes a 3-foot buffer). The project would also include construction of a 5-foot sidewalk along the south side of the roadway, and a multi-use trail varying in width from 8 to 10 feet along the north side. The improvements would extend along SR 120/Abbotts Bridge Road from Jones Bridge Road to Parsons Road (west), a total distance of approximately 1.0 mile. The project would require approximately 2.34 acres of additional right-of-way and 0.71 acre of permanent easement.
