GDOT Archaeological Assessment In‐House Survey Report GDOT Project: Phase 1 Archaeological Survey of Proposed Resurfacing along State Route 54 in Fayette County, Georgia

Report Number
10021
Year of Publication
2013
Abstract

The proposed work will take place along a 12.94 mile section of State Route (SR) 54 in Fayette County from the Coweta county line to McDonough Road (Figure 1). The proposed work consists of milling, patching, resurfacing, striping, raised pavement markers, four- foot earth shoulder filling, and curb cuts to install wheel chair ramps. The project will take place within existing Right-of Way (ROW), which varies throughout. The limits of construction will be 5 feet from the edge of pavement. Work on all bridges with concrete decks will be limited to restriping only.

As the majority of the proposed work has no potential to affect historic properties, the area of potential effect for this project consists of the curb cut locations at two intersections, the northwest corner of SR 54 westbound and N Jeff Davis Dr. and the northeast comer of SR 54 eastbound and N Jeff Davis Dr.

No previously recorded archaeological sites are located within 1 km of the APE. No previous surveys intersect the APE for this project.,
