Abstract

As per the request of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Tennessee Valley Archaeological Research (TVAR) has revised five chapters (4, 8, 12, 14 and 16) of the draft report entitled Phase II Testing of Fifteen Archaeological Sites Associated with the Planned Center Point-Moss Lake No. 2 Transmission Line, Gordon and Whitfield Counties. These five chapters were revised to address concerns of the Georgia Historic Preservation Division (HPD) regarding field methodology, report content, and/or National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility status recommendations for sites 9GO357, 9GO370, 9GO376, and 9GO386 as detailed in a letter (HP-050112-004; submitted to TVA dated September 9, 2016), and further discussed during a phone conversation between TVA (Richard Yarnell and Steve Cole) and the HPD (Jennifer Bedell) on September 14, 2016. Enclosed are four hard copies and three cds containing the five revised chapters for HPD review. TVAR is submitting these five revised chapters to help expedite the consultation process

between the HPD and TVA. TVAR is currently in the process of updating the entire report with an

emphasis on adding additional context to the discussions for the remaining 11 archaeological sites,

and we should have a final revised report completed in a few weeks.
