Abstract

Subterranean Consultants (STC) has completed a visual archaeological assessment of the proposed Cedarcrest Rock telecommunications project area on April 28, 2016. This archaeological assessment has determined that, due to previous construction and grading, no archaeological materials are likely to remain intact at the project area. This archaeological assessment was conducted for Terracon Consultants, Inc. (Project No. 49167275A), on behalf of

TowerCom V LLC, in order to locate and identify archaeological resources and to assess resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) criteria [36CFR Part 60.4 (a-d)]. The assessment was conducted to comply with the provisions of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) permitting under the Nationwide Programmatic Agreement (47 CFR Part 1). In accordance with the permitting process, the archaeological assessment was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended.

The proposed project would construct a 47-ft. by 50-ft. (14.3-m by 15.2-m) fenced lease area, a 549.56- ft. by 20-ft. (167.5-m by 6-m) access easement, and a 233.42-ft. by 10-ft. (71.1-m by 3-m) utility easement. The project area is located in northeast Paulding County approximately 7.7 miles (12.4 km) northeast of the town of Dallas and 393.7 ft. (120 m) north of the intersection of Cedarcrest Road band Old Dallas Acworth Road (34º 00’ 42.85” N, 84º 45’ 21.97” W [UTM Zone 16 E707210.1 N3765746.1]) (Attachments 1 and 2). The proposed lease area and access easement would be constructed on existing paved parking lot. The proposed utility easement would be constructed partially on previously graded soils and partially along existing paved parking lot (see Attachment 2) (Attachment 3) (Attachment 4).
