Abstract

In January, 1992, New South Associates conducted a Phase 1 cultural resources survey of the approximately 0.5 mile Haynes Bridge road widening project for Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jernigan. The road widening is restricted to the south of the intersection of Haynes Bridge and Highway 400. A check of the Georgia state site files located one site in the right-of-way, and two more sites within one mile of the project. None of these sites appear to be eligible for the National Register, and the one site recorded in the project right-of-way has been destroyed by the construction of the Haynes Bridge Road/Highway 400 interchange. The project discovered one new site south and east of the interchange of Highway 400 and Haynes Bridge Road. This historic site consists solely of a well, and does not appear to be eligible for nomination to the National Register.
