Abstract

This project is the replacement of four narrow and structurally deficient bridges on SR 26 at Elko Creek; Southern Railroad; Burnham Branch and Catna Branch between Henderson and Hawkinsville. Existing bridges are 23.8 ft. X 320ft.; 23.7 ft. X 144ft.; 23.7 ft. X 180ft. and 23.8 ft, by 120ft., respectively. Approaches have 24ft. of pavement with 7ft. shoulders. Current and future traffic is 750 VPD (1990) and 1150 VPD (2010). The proposed replacement structures will be constructed in present _location to a width of 38ft. at each site and to respective lengths of 350ft.; 160ft.; 200ft. and 140ft. Lengths are estimated and are subject to change based on detailed hydraulic studies. Approach pavement and shoulder widths will remain as-is. Traffic will be maintained during construction using runaround detours at each site.
