Abstract

On November 13, 2000, the Georgia Department of Transportation conducted a Phase I archaeological survey on County Road 9 in Jones County, Georgia. The proposed project would grade, base, and pave the unimproved county road. All work would be done with the proposed right-of-way of 80 feet. In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, and the Georgia Environmental Policy Act of 1991, the entire project corridor has been surveyed with respect to cultural resources. The purpose of this survey was to determine the presence or absence of any cultural resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. No cultural resources were identified during Phase I survey.
