Abstract

Archaeological Assessment of Various District 1 Resurfacing Projects. The proposed projects would consist of milling, leveling, resurfacing, shoulder paving & building and balancing of travel lanes on various roadways in District I. The resurfacing projects include the following: SR 400 from south of SR 53 to SR 60

(M003655-Dawson and Lumpkin Counties); SR 11 from Shoe Factory Road to SR 515 (M003656-Union County); and SR 369 from just west of the SR 369/SR 53 intersection to SR 11 Business (M003657-Hall County). All work will be restricted to within the existing right-of-way. Pursuant to the February 2000 memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800.16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
