Abstract

“In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation

Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project F-006-2 (39), Lee County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to located, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

Project F006-2(39), Lee County, consists of the proposed widening of U.S. 19 (S.R. 3). The project begins at P.R. 4159 at the north end of Project F006-2(38) just south of the truck passing lanes, proceeding in a northerly direction to S.R. 32 in Leesburg. The length of the project is 3.67 miles. The project calls for symmetrical widening of the truck passing lanes into four 12-foot travel lanes with a 14-foot flush median, on a proposed 150 of right-of-way, for the first 5200 feet.
