Abstract

Early acquisition parcels, as they pertain to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) projects, are sections of land that lie within proposed Right-of-Way (ROW). These parcels are acquired "early" or prior to project scoping to ensure that the parcel is available when the propose project enters design. This is the case for the proposed early acquisition of parcel 7060-001 located at 2300 Old Peachtree Road , which lies within required ROW of the proposed Sugarloaf parkway Extension II in Gwinnett County. However, survey for the parcel does not cover the remainder of the Sugarloaf Parkway Extension II project.

This project (PI 0006924) includes the construction of Sugarloaf Parkway Extension II from SR 20 (Buford Drive) to SR 316 (University Parkway). This section of new limited access freeway has interchanges at Mall of Georgia Boulevard, 1-85, SR 124 (Braselton Highway), Fence Road and SR 316 (University Parkway). The project length is 8.3 miles (Figure 1). The early acquisition parcel is 13.44 acres and will be acquired from a larger parcel (7060-001) of 31.64 acres.
