Abstract

In compliance with Section I 06 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project CSSTP-M003-00(6 18), Whitfield County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)". The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would provide for the resurfacing, mill work, loop detectors, striping and curb cut ramps on SR 3/US 41 from 50 feet east of Chattanooga Road to 240 feet north of SR 201 near the town of Dalton, Georgia. The installation of Type A and Type B curb cuts would be at the following intersections: Chattanooga Road, Shugart Road, Tibbs Road, Kings Road, Willowdale Road, and SR 201. All work will be restricted to within the existing right-of-way throughout the project's area of potential effect.
