Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-0000-00(930), Coweta County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. The proposed project would consist of adding left and right turn lanes to all three approaches of the intersection of SR 14/US 29 and CR 33/Weldon Road. State Route 14/US 29 will be widened by 12 feet on the southbound side, while CR 33/Weldon Road will be widened by 12 feet on the westbound side. Existing right-of-way on SR 14/US 29 is approximately 60 feet; existing right-of-way on CR 33/Weldon Road is approximately 130 feet. Additional required right-of-way for SR 14/US 29 varies from approximately 75-95 feet. There is no additional required right-of-way for CR 33/Weldon Road. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor.
