Phase I Archaeological Survey of the Proposed Chattahooche Bend Trail, Coweta County

Report Number

Year of Publication

Abstract

The proposed project would construct a 10-foot (ft) wide paved multi-use trail for pedestrians, cyclists, and equestrians within Chattahoochee Bend State Park (Figures 1 and 2). The proposed trail would begin at the west side of the existing Flat Rock Road Trailhead in Chattahoochee Bend State Park (CBSP) and extend in an easterly direction for 1.4 miles. The 1rail would be paved with asphalt, creating an ADA and bike-friendly trail. The trail would utilize the existing landscape to minimize the need for man-made structures such as bridges or retaining walls. The proposed project would include the 3ft swale, 2ft shoulders on either side, or the 10ft wide trail. The project would be located entirely within the borders of Chattahoochee Bend State park, and no transfer of property ownership would occur. Temporary easements may be required during construction; however, information regarding the extent of these easements is not available. No right-of-way (ROW) acquisition is anticipated.
