Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRM-2401 (5), Hall County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) . The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project on SR 13 would replace the bridge spanning over the Southern Railroad in Hall County. The proposed bridge structure would be placed on new location approximately 15.2 m (50ft) northeast of the existing alignment. The project on SR 13 would begin approximately 260 m (855 ft) south and end approximately 594 m (1950ft) north of the new bridge structure. Also, a left turn lane would be constructed on SR 13 onto CR 453. The turn lane construction would begin at the new bridge structure then continue northerly on SR 13 for approximately 228 m (750ft ) ending at CR 453. The existing right-of-way on SR 13 is approximately 15.2 m (50ft), while the required right-of-way will vary from 3.8 to 19.8 m (1 2 .5 to 62.5ft) . An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed rights-of –way was conducted for the entire 0.8 kilometer (0.5 mile) project corridor.
