Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, and the Georgia Environmental Policy Act of 1991, project PR-33-5(283), Treutlen County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) . The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

Project PR-33-5(283) involves the grading, drainage, base, and paving of a section of CR 33 in Treutlen County. The proposed project would begin approximately 365.8 m (1200ft) south of the intersection of CR 180 and would end at the intersection of CR 29. Existing right-of-way along CR 33 is approximately 6.1 m (20ft). Additional required right-of-way would be approximately 12.2 m (40ft). An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed right-of-way was conducted for the entire length of project corridor.
