Abstract

This project involves the replacement of a structurally deficient bridge (Bridge 119-5027 -0) carrying Crumps Bridge Road over North Fork Broad River in Franklin County, Georgia. The existing bridge is located 4 miles southwest of Martin, Georgia. This project is part of GDOTs Low Impact Bridge Program (LIBP). Designs for the new bridge were not yet available at the time of the archaeological survey. The existing right-of-way (ROW) measures 55 feet from the centerline. The bridge is 105 feet in length. No temporary roadways or bridges were proposed for this project. The 100-foot expanded archaeology survey corridor on typical GDOT projects will be waived in some instances, given that projects in the Low Impact Bridge Program are not intended to extend beyond the existing ROW. This consideration will be determined based on available design information and consultation with the Office of Bridges and Structures. Field data will be assessed to ensure that the entire survey area has been surveyed. For the purpose of the field survey, generally 500 feet from existing structure approaches will serve as the longitudinal survey limits.
