Phase I Archaeological Resources Survey of the Proposed Stovall-Greenville Road/County Road 416 Bridge Replacement over Flat Shoal Creek, Meriwether County, Georgia

Abstract

As part of the Georgia Department of Transportation's (GDOT) Low Impact Bridge Program (LISP), a potential bridge replacement has been identified along Stovall-Greenville Road/County Road (CR) 416, located in Meriwether County, Georgia. The existing bridge (Bridge 10 #199-0061-0) currently spans Flat Shoal Creek located approximately 2.5 miles southwest of Greenville (Figures 1 and 2) and has a sufficiency rating of 64.6. The existing bridge was constructed in 1950 and measures 32 feet (9.8 meters) long by 23.9 feet (7.3 meters) wide. The existing right-of-way (ROW) along this section of Stovall-Greenville Road/CR 416 is 80 feet (24 meters) wide, or 40 feet (12 meters) on either side of the existing road centerline.
