Abstract

Archeological Assessment of a Hancock County Resurfacing Project. This project consists of the resurfacing, leveling and shoulder building of SR 22 beginning at M.P. 15. 16 and ending at the Hancock/Taliaferro County Line. All work will take place within the existing right-of-way, with no new right-of-way required. Total project length is approximately 11 .54 miles. Pursuant to the February 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHW A), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800. 16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
