Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRZLB-195(4), Madison Co., has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historical Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

The project proposes to replace the bridge over Mill Shoal Creek on County Road #6. The project will be approximately 1,800 feet long and will requ1re r1ghts -of-way of 80 feet on existing alignment to over 200 feet at the creek crossing. The first 400 and last 300 feet of the project will be more or less on existing alignment, while the middle 1,100 feet, including the bridge, will be on new location-approximately 300 feet north of the existing facility.
