Abstract

The following is being furnished to you for inclusion as written, in the appropriate environmental document:

In compliance with Georgia Environmental Policy Act, project PR- 373(129), Gordon County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project area.

This project consists of the resurfacing and minor widening of CR 373/Dews Pond Road from the Calhoun city limits easterly to the intersection of CR 481/Cash Road. Minor widening (2 feet left and right) is proposed from CR 29 to the CR 481 intersection for a distance of approximately 3.74 miles. Leveling and resurfacing is proposed for the entire 6.38 mile project corridor. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed rights-of-way was conducted along the entire project corridor.
