Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project F-033-1(37), Thomas County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

The project proposes the construction of a bypass of Thomasville west of the city. The project begins at the intersection of West Pine Tree Blvd. and S.R. 3/U.S. 319 and continues north to a point approximately 1,100 feet north of Cassidy Road (C.R. 139), where it ties into S.R. 3/U.S . 319. A corridor 200 feet wide was surveyed for a distance of 4.34 miles.
