Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BR-0003-00(267), Putnam County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would consist of replacing the bridge on CR 89/Park Road spanning Rooty Creek. The existing bridge is a 24.8' X 88' concrete structure, and will be replaced with a 32' X 100' concrete structure on existing alignment. CR 89/Park Road will be closed during construction utilizing an off-site detour. Existing right-of-way is approximately 80', and an additional 15'-45' of right-of-way is required on both sides of CR 89/Park Road. Total project length is approximately .29-mile. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor.
