Abstract

Archaeological Reassessment of GDOT Project BR-0003-00(267), Putnam County. "In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BR-0003-00(267), Putnam County, Georgia, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would replace the existing bridge on CR 89/Park Road over Rooty Creek. The existing bridge is a 24.8'x88' concrete structure and will be replaced with a 32'xl00' concrete structure on existing alignment. CR 89/Park Road will be closed during construction with an off-site detour. Existing right-of-way is approximately 80' with additional required right-of-way proposed to vary from 15' to 45 '. Total length of the project is approximately 0.29 mile. The project has since been changed to include approximately 15' of additional right-of-way on both sides of CR 89 between station numbers 71 +00 and 77+50. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed changes was conducted for the entire project area.
