Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project I -7 5- 2(93), Monroe County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) . The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

Survey methods included a visual search of the project boundaries, a walk -through of the area and subsurface shovel tests were judged to be necessary. While in the field it was obvious that the majority of landforms have been severely disturbed by recent construction activities and the survey did not locate any archaeological materials within the proposed road right-of-way changes. Therefore, there should not be any adverse effects to the State's archaeological resources.
