Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project F-038-1(20), Appling Co., has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. The project consists of widening to three lanes S.R. 4 in Baxley from Speer Street to S.R. 15 intersection, a length of 0.1 mile. An additional 15 feet of right-of-way will be required from the east side of the existing facility. The area is heavily developed. Because of the nature of the project, no in-field inspection was made, but USGS maps, county road maps, and aerial photography were examined.
