Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project PR-36(001), Appling County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify, and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. The proposed project would widen and improve CR 36 from the intersection with US 341/ SR 27 south to the intersection with CR 536. The total project length is approximately 4.6 miles. The existing two lane dirt road would be widened and paved to improve the horizontal alignment and\ or minimize impacts. The existing ROW is SO feet; 80 feet would be required.
