Abstract

In December 1993, Environmental Services, Inc., conducted an intensive cultural resource assessment survey of a 1.6 mile long by 75 foot wide corridor in Bulloch County, Georgia. The corridor is the proposed location for Oglethorpe Power Corporation's Jimps Tap 115 kV Transmission Line Project. This report describes the environmental and cultural setting of the project vicinity, provides a review of previous research in the area, and discusses the methods and results of the investigation. The goals of the project were to locate and identify cultural resources along the proposed corridor, and to evaluate their significance and eligibility for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Only one site was recorded during the survey, a twentieth century structure that does not meet the criteria for National Register listing. It is recommended that the proposed project be allowed to proceed.
