Abstract

Archeological Assessment of the Dawson County Resurfacing Project. This proposed project is 10.3 miles in length and consists of spot patching, leveling, shoulder widening, permanent striping, and resurfacing of SR 52 beginning at the Gilmer/Dawson County line and ending at the Dawson/Lumpkin County line. No additional right-of-way is required. Pursuant to the February 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHW A), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800.16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
