In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project F-009-2(68), Chatham County has been surveyed with respect to archaeologica1 resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. This project proposes the widening of S. R. 25/S.R. 17, Ogeechee Road, from S.R . 307, Deans Forest Road to Lynes Parkway. The project proposes to widen the existing two lane facility to a four lane facility for a distance of 4.3 miles.
