Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the replacement of a bridge on CR 51 over Elkins Creek near Zebulon in Pike County. The project would begin approximately 0.4 krn (0.25 mile) west of Elkins Creek and would end approximately 0.4 km (0.25 mile) east of Elkins Creek for a total project length of 0.8 km (0.5 mile). The existing typical section is approximately a 5.8 meter (19') two lane rural section with approximate 1.2 meter (4') grassed shoulders. The proposed typical section would be two 3 meter (10'), approximately, lanes with 1.5 meter (5') grassed shoulders. The existing structure is a 34. 1 X 7.32 meter (112 ' X 24') bridge that is too narrow and structurally deficient. The bridge would be replaced with an estimated 45. 7 X 9.1 meter (150' X 30') bridge. Existing ROW is approximately 18.3 meters (60'); an additional 12.2 meters (40') would be required for a total of 30.5 meters (100') of ROW.
