Abstract

During September-October 1991, December 1992, and March 1994 cultural heritage resources surveys were conducted on the Oconee National Forest. Approximately 910 acres in Jasper, Jones, Putnam, and Greene Counties, Georgia were surveyed prior to timber harvesting and recreation activities. Thirteen new cultural resources were found and only one is considered potentially eligible for the National Register. One of these sites is recommended for protection and avoidance, and the other twelve do not need any further mitigation. These timber sales will have no effect on any significant sites.
