Abstract

In compliance with Section I 06 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRF-1267(92) in Greene County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. Proposed project BRF-1 267(92) in Greene County proposes to replace the narrow, structurally deficient bridge on State Route 15 over Town Creek approximately 5.2 miles northwest of Greensboro, Georgia. The proposed construction would replace the existing structure with a quadruple barrel 9.0 X 9.0-foot reinforced concrete bridge culvert and provide 10 foot rural shoulders on the bridge approaches. An additional 10 feet of right-of-way would be required for this project, as well as small amounts of additional right-of-way for temporary easements just north of the bridge structure. The total project length is 0.27 miles (1400 feet).
