Archaeological Survey HES-161-1(7), Morgan County: The project is located on West Washington Street (S.R. 83) at the Georgia Railroad Overpass in Madison, Georgia, and consist of lowering the existing roadway to provide a minimum of fourteen feet vertical clearance. No new right-of-way is required. A windshield survey of the area was conducted and considered adequate in this case. Commercial and residential development borders both sides of the existing road which has resulted in a significant degree of disturbance to the area. No streams or major water sources are involved in the project. It is concluded that the project will affect no archaeological resources.
