Abstract

On August 26, 1994, New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of 3, 950 feet of the proposed Ivy/Little Ivy Creek interceptor sewer system in Gwinnett County, Georgia. This volume provides a prehistoric and historic background for the area and completely chronicles the results of the 3,950 foot survey. This report will also serve as a base report for continuing work on the Ivy/Little Ivy Creek interceptor sewer system and further reports on these projects, as needed, will contain only results and recommendations, referring the reader to this report for background information. A pedestrian survey of the 3,950 feet corridor utilized a 30 meter shovel test interval as well as visual inspection of the exposed ground surface. This inspection located a single site, a prehistoric lithic scatter The lithic scatter does not appear to be eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places and no further study of the site is recommended.
