Abstract

The proposed project consists of the paving of shoulders along SR 147 from Intersection of SR 4/US 1 to SR 178 (see attached map). Total project length is approximately 14.1 kilometers (8.6 miles). The existing two-lane facility would have an additional 0.6 meter (2 feet) of pavement put down along the right and left shoulders. All proposed activity would occur within existing right-of-way. The corridor passes through mostly rural areas, and has had sparse residential development occur along it. Land formerly used for pasture and row crop production is now used for pine tree farming. The majority of houses along the corridor are modern and few pre-World War II dwellings are to be found. The area of potential effect for this project is considered to be limited to the existing right-of-way, within which all proposed activity would occur. This project does not have the potential to visually affect any eligible resources located outside the existing right-of-way because no slopes would be changed and all paving would be done at existing grade.
