Abstract

Project STP-00MS(216), Forsyth/Hall Counties: Proposed Bridge Rehabilitation; the proposed project consists of the proposed deck rehabilitation of GDOT Bridge # 117-0022-0 located on SR 369 over Lake Lanier (see attached map) . The project would remove and replace the steel grid deck on this steel truss bridge. The steel grid deck replacement would be poured and overlaid to provide a solid deck riding surface. The decks on the approach spans also would be replaced. The metal truss also would be painted. Because of the scope of the project, the deck replacement and painting of this bridge, the area of potential effect (APE) for the purposes of Section 106 has been limited to the structure itself. No additional right-of-way would be required and no ground disturbance would be necessary for project implementation. To ensure compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, the updated Georgia Historic Bridge Inventory was checked in an effort to identify historic resources located within the project's APE. This bridge does not appear in the historic bridge inventory's database. This database consists of all roadway bridges in the state of Georgia built before 1956. Therefore, no cultural resources in or eligible for inclusion in the National Register were located within the proposed project's APE. This finding has been coordinated with the SHPO.
