Abstract

A cultural resources survey of portions of the proposed sewer improvements in Carnesville, Georgia was undertaken to locate, identify, and evaluate archeological sites that may be impacted during construction. The survey recorded four sites where cultural material occurred. The sites dated to the Early Archaic, Middle Archaic, Late Mississippian, and nineteenth century Historic periods. The proposed sewer improvements will impact one site (site 3). None of the sites meet the criteria for eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places.
