Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-023- 2(6), Coffee County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. The project involves the widening of S.R. 31/U.S. 441 north of Douglas. The project will begin just south of Jardine Statium Road and will follow the existing corridor north to just south of the Seventeen Mile River. Existing right- of-way is 100-110 feet throughout the project length. A 150 foot corridor was surveyed throughout the project length.
