Archaeological Records Check & Phase IA Archaeological Reconnaissance for the Proposed Little Telecommunications Tower Site in Hortense, Brantley County, Georgia.

In response to a request from lgnite Wireless, Inc., RESCOM Environmental Corp., has completed a Phase IA archaeological reconnaissance and records check for a proposed telecommunications tower site in Brantley County, Georgia, approximately IO miles east of Hortense (Figure I). The project is located east of Browntown Rd at 31°20'14.5", 81°46'30.2" W, as seen on the USGS 7.5' Browntown, GA, topographical quadrangle (Figure 2). The project area is within a horse pasture and consists of a I 00-ft by I 00-ft lease area for a proposed telecommunications tower and an access easement to the west (Figure 3). An archaeological records check conducted on behalf of RESCOM by the UGA Laboratory of Archaeology via the Georgia Archaeological Site File (GASF) shows no archaeological sites overlapping the project area. Fieldwork was conducted on April 2, 2019 by qualified professional archaeologist Eric Sanchez, Indiana University 2008, under the supervision of Andrew Smith M.A., Ball State University 2010, Principal Investigator and Secretary of Interior qualified professional archaeologist, and required 3 hours of fieldwork. This report details the results of the records check and Phase la field reconnaissance and presents the conclusions and recommendations of RESCOM concerning any additional archaeological investigations.
