Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-0000-00(862) in Spalding County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. GDOT project STP-0000-00(862) in Spalding County consists of the construction of a northbound passing lane along SR 155 between McDonough Road and Troublesome Creek. Existing right-of-way for SR 155 is 80 feet and a maximum of 100 feet of additional right-of-way would be necessary for the construction of this project. Two 80-foot easements for the construction of sediment basins at Troublesome Creek were also surveyed. The total project length is 1.09 miles.
