Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-089-1 (20), Bibb-Jones Counties has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. This is the proposed widening to five lanes of S.R. 49 (Milledgeville Road) from the end of the existing five -lane section on Shurling Drive to C.R. 139 (Griswold Road) in Jones County. The project is 1.1 miles long and a corridor 100 feet either side of the existing centerline was surveyed for the duration of the project.
