Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRMLB-4915(6), Lowndes County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the - survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. Project BRMLB-4915 (6) would replace the structurally deficient bridge over Mudd Creek on CR 785 in Lowndes County. The proposed project on CR 785 would begin approximately 300 meters (984 feet) southeast and end approximately 300 meters (984 feet) northwest of the existing bridge structure. The existing right- of-way on CR 785 is approximately 24.4 meters (80 feet), while the additional required right- of- way will be a maximum of approximately 53 meters (174 feet). An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed project description was conducted along the entire length of the proposed project corridor.
