Abstract

On October 24-25, 2018, Brockington and Associates, Inc. (Brockington) completed a Phase I

archaeological survey for the Lauderdale Project Tract in Bartow County, Georgia (Figures I and 2).

The tract is approximately 29.8 acres and is located southeast of the town of Kingston and to the

southeast of the intersection of US 411 (GA 20) and Harden Bridge Road. Georgia Power Company

(GPC) commissioned Brockington to complete a due-diligence archaeological investigation to identify and assess archaeological resources in the project area. The Area of Potential Effects (APE) for this investigation is defined as the 29.8-acre tract. Though this is a due diligence project, all activities described herein comply with the stipulations of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) (per 36 CFR Part 800, as amended through 2016) and were carried out by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. We conducted a literature review and archaeological field investigation to determine if the proposed project will impact archaeological resources that are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). This letter report includes a description of our methods, the results of our background research and survey, and our recommendations for the proposed project.
