Abstract

During December 16-31, 2017, Brockington and Associates. Inc. completed background research and an archaeological site delineation for Fairfield Plantation, a circa 1810 home originally constructed for John Lamar (1769-1833) and his wife Rebecca Lamar (1774-1839). The site is located on Plant Branch land. owned by the Georgia Power Company (GPC). in Putnam County, Georgia (Figures I and 2). The plantation site was not previously recorded in the Georgia Archaeological Site File (GA F), and is designated Site 9PM2438. The site delineation is completed as a due diligence effort for GPC. At present, the Plant Branch combustion turbine operation is being closed, though long-term use of the tract containing 9PM2438 has not yet been determined. Current permitting requirements do not require full Phase I cultural resource investigations. and this due-diligence investigation is not intended to fulfill Section I 06 requirements outlined in the National Historic Preservation ct.
