Abstract

Basing on the "Summary proposal for the West Point Area Salvage Program for 1969," previously submitted, the present review will follow the same outline. For the most part the minor sites listed have proved to be "write-offs," presumably flood stripped, the requisite information obtained fairly easily. The known more important sites of the area retain their regional and inter-regional importance, if anything upgraded. The Emory Park Mound, 9TP41, proves to be a multiple level platform mound in the Etowah series, apparently sharply distinct from the Avery Mound (Petts Plantation, 9TP64) which is much more definitely related to the Fall Line sites, though both sites have earlier components of undetermined importance.
