Abstract

Project SF-120(83), Paulding County is a maintenance project consisting solely of the construction of a cross-drain on SR 120 just south of the intersection of SR 120 and Cole Lake Road near Dallas, Georgia. A Level 2 Archaeological survey was conducted on 11 July 1997 for this minor project. The purpose of the survey was primarily due to the Civil War site potential that any project in the area of Dallas has. The entire project area consists of low wetlands, a minor drainage and road shoulder slope leading down to the low areas. No subsurface testing was required due to the wet nature of the project area. No surface features were present in the project area which might be indicative of Civil War or other cultural activity. No further archaeological work required.
