Abstract

In response to a request from our District One office, an archaeological survey of three bridge replacements was conducted by the Archaeologist attached to the Environmental Analysis Bureau. The bridge replacements are located in a rugged portion of Rabun County, a part of Georgia that is little known archaeologically. Based on the bridges' locations on the topographic map of the area (see attached map), no sites were predicted. Laurel Creek was first examined and found to have no floodplain in the project area, though there was some floodplain development several hundred yards farther south. Law Ground Creek and Talley Mill Creek were also without floodplain. None had any exposed material on the banks.
